The Home Diagnostic Academy serves as a launching point for many “Green Jobs.” Better still, we have a history of furthering established careers by updating Contractors, Energy Auditors, Consultants, and Utility personnel on the most current and necessary certifications. There are dozens of possible certifications out there but many require prerequisites. It is easy to get lost in the “alphabet soup” so here is a handy guide on getting started based on your current or projected career.

Building Performance Institute (BPI) certifications are quickly becoming the standard for the nations builders, contractors, and energy auditors. Many of the local and statewide incentive, stimulus, and code required programs have already begun to rely on the BA1 or Building Analyst as primary certification. Some proposed programs (like Home Star) will be requiring one of BPI’s specialty certifications in addition to the Building Analyst to unlock the full financial potential of the program.

This is where the HDS Academy can get you started. We currently offer both the Building Analyst (BA1), and the Building Envelope Professional (BEP) certification courses. Each course is a week long class that includes both the written and field exams.

This course covers the training and certification required for a technician to perform the DET (Duct and Envelope Tightness) verification required by the 2011 Georgia Code. This new code affects all new construction in Ga. and will impact major remodels as well. Our common sense approach will have you code compliant in no time and we can bring the field training and testing to you with our mobile testing facility.

Our BPI and DET upcoming classes are held throughout the state of Georgia. Most of the classes are held within the metro Atlanta area but our partnerships with Georgia EMC’s bring us all over the state and occasionally around the south east.
